Cool Places You Are Not Allowed To Visit

1.Room 39

This room is where North Korea works out how to get some foreign currency. This is where it runs all of its international bank accounts from, so it does play such a key role in the entire economy as well as making sure that its leader can live a lavish lifestyle while everybody else starves to death.




2.White's Gentleman's Club

This club is as exclusive as it gets. In order to get in you need to be male, and have the support of three people that are already members. Basically, you must be at the top of politics or royalty in order to even stand a chance of being invited to join.



3.Mezhgorye

This is a rather secretive town in Russia and unless you have special permission you are going to find it very difficult to explore the area. The people that live there are supposed to work in a top secret Russian facility nearby, so you have to be in their family to be there in the first place.





4.Metro-2, Russia

This is alleged to be a secret metro system that runs alongside the normal one in Moscow and it was used to connect various strategic buildings without the people having to appear in public. Obviously it would be amazing to explore it, but it is tightly controlled by the Russian government, so it is not possible.



5.Area 51

This has to be one of the most famous secretive parts of the world and there is no doubt that if they opened the doors to allow people to look around that they would be inundated with visitors. The fact that we cannot even really stop nearby without somebody taking an interest in us just adds to the mystery and intrigue.





6.Ise Grand Shrine

This is one of the holiest shrines in the whole of Japan and it does mean that only the priest, or priestess, is allowed to enter. Sure you can get quite close to it, but you are unable to see the inside or what goes on, so we have to allow our imagination to take over.



7.Niihau

This is an island off Hawaii and the single reason as to why it is largely closed off to visitors is simply to stop them damaging its wildlife and the ecosystem. The island is inhabited, but there are a lot of restrictions in place, which you can understand due to the reasons.

8.Jiangsu National Security Education Museum, China

This place is not completely off limits, but in order to get in you need to be a Chinese national. Apart from that, no foreigners are allowed entry, so that single fact makes it an interesting place to visit simply because we have been told not to.



9.Church of Our Lady Mary of Zion

This is in Ethiopia and if you are a Christian, then there is a good chance that you would love to get in there. However, due to a Christian relic contained within its walls there is only one priest that is allowed to enter, so you have no chance of seeing it.

10.Poveglia

At first glance this island off the coast of Italy looks pretty normal, but you are banned from going there. There are several reasons as to why this is the case, but it is often put down as being haunted as it was an island where all of the undesirables were sent several hundreds of years ago. It also had a mental asylum there and is one scary place.



11.Vatican archives

You have to admit that getting access to the archives at the Vatican would be fascinating. The building that they are in is spectacular in its own right, but very few people in the world are allowed anywhere near these most secretive of documents.

12.Lascaux caves

These caves in France contain paintings that are tens of thousands of years old, but you are only going to be able to see them online. People used to be allowed to visit, but the public has been banned since the 60's in order to help preserve this ancient art.
