Fear selfies, not sharks. Now, deaths caused by selfies are more in number than deaths caused by sharks. Selfies have gained popularity throughout the world in the last couple of years. Unfortunately, today, selfies are being used as a medium to express narcissism, and expose stupidity. There are people who took selfies with their dead relatives or friends. Here we have people who killed themselves taking a selfie.
1.Deleon Smith, US
The person you are seeing in the image has killed himself with a gun, trying to take a selfie of him. 19 year old Deleon Smith from Houston, US was taking a selfie of him with gun pointed at his neck. He accidentally shot himself in the process. Deleon Smith was father of two children. He died a day before he was supposed to attend community college.
2.Sylwia Rajchel, Poland
Sylwia Rajchel, a 23 year old medical student from Poland died after she fell down from a bridge, while trying to take a selfie. She was on a holiday trip to Spain. She lost control and fell off from famous Puente De Triana Bridge. Police tried to save her, but she had a cardiac arrest the moment she fell on bridge's concrete footings.
3.Marie Rocello, Philippines
Marie Rocello was a 14 year old girl from Philippines. She died from falling down school staircase while she was trying to take a selfie with a friend. Marie had severe head injuries that resulted in her death. She was the first person in Philippines to die from a selfie related accident.
4.Yaqub, Iqbal and Afzal, India
Four college goers named Yaqub, Iqbal, Afzal and Aneesh from India wanted to take a daredevil selfie to post on their social networking profiles. The idea was to take a selfie of them with a moving train in background. As they failed to judge speed of the train correctly, it hit and killed three of them instantly.
5.Anna Ursu, Romania
This was a sad incident. This incident is also a proof that how stupid some people can really be. Anna Ursu is an 18 year old girl from Romania. She had a selfie obsession. This lady couldn't stop herself from taking selfies. She wanted to take an 'ultimate' selfie to surprise all her friends. She decided to take a selfie on top of a train. She went to the nearest railway station, got on top of a train, and got killed by a live electrical wire.
6.Oscar Otero Aguilar, Mexico
Oscar Otero was a 21 year old man from Mexico who killed himself with a gun while trying to take a selfie. Oscar Otero and his friends were heavily drunk before this accident happened. Oscar tried to take a selfie with gun in his hand. He died when he accidentally shot himself in head. His neighbors called police after they hear the sound of a gunshot. By the time police arrived, Oscar was dead. Police arrested two of his friends.
7.Cheynee Holloway, UK
This is yet another tragic story. Cheynee Holloway was a South African girl who fell in love with James Nicholas, a 23 year old man from UK. They met each other online. James Nicholas traveled to South Africa to meet his girlfriend. The couple visited a rocky place to take some photographs. While taking photos, Cheynee slipped, lost her balance and fell down from a cliff. James immediately called in for emergency medical help, but she was dead by the time medical team arrived.

8.Courtney Sanford, US
Taking selfies while driving is as dangerous as driving under influence. This incident that happened in High Point, North Carolina tells us how dangerous it is to take selfies while driving. Courtney Sanford, 32, had a head-on collision with a truck, which caused her death. Friends of her found status messages and selfies of her in her Facebook, moments before the collision happened.
9.Xenia Ignatyeva, Russia
She was an 18 year old girl who died from a freak selfie accident. She climbed onto a railway bridge to take an adventurous selfie of her. Unfortunately, she fell down from railway bridge. While falling, she touched electrical wires to protect herself from falling down. She died from electric shock, and her body fell 30 feet down from bridge.

10.Edwin, India
Edwin was yet another teenager from India who fell victim to selfie madness. Edwin wanted a selfie with a moving train on his back to post on his Facebook wall. He was hit by train and was severely injured, as he failed to judge speed of the train. Onlookers rushed him to nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
11.Jadial El Tsunami, Puerto Rico
Jadial El Tsunami (Puerto Rico native) was a popular musician from New York, who had fans in many countries. He posted this selfie of him on his Facebook wall moments before he lost balance of his motorcycle and crashed into a car. His last status message on his Facebook read as 'Me Descontrolo', which means 'I lose control' in English.
12.Collette Moreno and Ashley Theobald, US
Collete Moreno and Ashley Theobald from Missouri were best friends. Collette Moreno, who was about to get married then, threw a bachelorette party to all her friends. Ashley Theobald, friend of Collete Moreno was driving her to the party. As you can see from the image, the two friends were taking selfies moments before they had a head-on collision with another vehicle. Ashley Theobald survived the accident with minor injuries, while her friend Collette was dead from her injuries.
13.Oscar Reyes, US
There was an internet trend last year by the name 'Selfie Game 2014' where youngsters post crazy selfies of them. Oscar Reyes from US posted a selfie showing him in a SpongeBob outfit, hanging on to a restroom door. He got over two hundred likes for this picture. Oscar Reyes was found dead in his mother's restroom on 2nd January, 2015. According to investigators, he died from falling off restroom's door.
14.Mr. Chen, China
In an unfortunate incident, Mr. Chen from Eastern China fell off 100 foot cliff and died from severe head injuries. He was trying to take selfies of him with a selfie stick near waterfall, where he lost his balance and fell into ravine near the waterfall. When people discovered his body, he had a phone and selfie stick with him.
15.Amritpal Singh and Jatinder Singh, US
Amritpal Singh was a 29 year old pilot from Colorado who killed himself and his passenger Jatinder Singh, while he was trying to take a selfie. Amritpal Singh, who was flying a Cessna 150K aircraft, lost control of it when he was busy snapping a selfie. "Contributing to the accident was the pilot's distraction due to his cellphone use while maneuvering at low altitude," NTSB said in a statement.
