1.Cristiano Ronaldo

With over 42 million fans on his Facebook page, Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the most followed sportspeople anywhere in the world. He is of course one of the best soccer players on the planet and people see updates on his life as well as keeping track of his career at Real Madrid.

2.Eminem

Eminem is massive on Facebook as he has over 56 million fans checking out what he is doing and keeping track of his career. This may not be as personal as Twitter, but it is still a seriously impressive number of people that are actively following and liking his career.

3.Justin Bieber

It is not a shock to find out that Justin Bieber has the highest number of followers on Twitter with over 41 million of them at this moment in time. He is very active on there and you can only imagine the number of retweets connected to him on a daily basis. His beliebers really do wait for anything he has to say and more of them are following him each day.

4.Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga is another celebrity that is closing in on having almost 40 million followers on Twitter and people just love waiting to find out a bit more about her zanyness because even her profile is a bit out there and different from everybody else. She is not that active on there, but she is still worth checking out.

5.Katy Perry

Katy Perry is closing in on having 40 million followers on Twitter even though she apparently only tweets around once per day and is not exactly a heavy user of the website. However, people still love getting anything from her and ultimately they will hang on her every word whenever she decides she has something to say. 

6.Barack Obama

With over 33 million people following him, Barack Obama has one of the highest number of followers on the entire website. He has been known to tweet as often as 10 times in a single day and it is no real surprise that he has decided to use this form of media in order to put across his point of view on various national and world issues.

7.Rihanna

With over 30 million followers it is clear that Rihanna is one of the most followed celebrities on the site and her fans love the fact that she can tweet on average of seven times a day. She does appear to love using the site as people get to learn some more about her life and what she is getting up to away from the studio.

8.Taylor Swift

With over 80 million followers, Taylor Swift has really come from nowhere to being in the top league of Twitter followers. She may only tweet around once a day, or may go days without saying anything, but it is still enough for her fans to get excited over as they learn a bit more about their favorite star. The "Love Story" singer Taylor Swift has an amazing number of followers of her feet.

9.Britney Spears

With around 30 million followers, Britney Spears is seriously popular on Twitter and she does certainly make good use of it and does make sure that she communicates with her fans on a regular basis. She has been on there for quite some time, but even if she was new you know she would be swamped with people.

10.Justin Timberlake

With more than 22 million fans on Twitter it is fair to say that Justin Timberlake does have his fair share of fans that want to follow every single thing that he says on his account. He does tend to tweet every single day although the number of times does vary depending on what else is going on in his life, but at least he does keep in touch with his fans as often as he can.

11.Shakira

With over 21 million followers on Twitter, Shakira is certainly one of the most popular celebrities that is on that website. She does tend to tweet on a daily basis, so at least her fans can get a daily fix of Shakira and find out more about what she is doing in her life as well as her music.

12.Jennifer Lopez

When it comes to Twitter, Jennifer Lopez has over 20 million followers and this is certainly an impressive number. It does mean that when it comes to celebrities on that site she is one of the most popular by some distance and she continues to have more people following her on a daily basis.
