1.The Daily Show

The amazing part about this program is how they manage to keep it going because so much work must go into keeping it relevant and funny that you wonder how they do it. However, it is undoubtedly something that you need to watch at some point and prepare to laugh as you get an alternative daily show to watch.

2.I Love Lucy

This may be old, but it is still brilliant and it shows how they were capable of making some amazing shows decades ago. As you can guess it is all about a character called Lucy and what she gets up to and it is nice clean cut family humor that is perfect for a lazy day in front of the television.

3.Curb Your Enthusiasm

This show is seriously funny and the way they use other celebrities just adds to the humor and enjoyment of watching it. Larry David is outstanding in his role as he just has the perfect face for comedy and you are going to hurt laughing when watching this series.

4.Cheers

Quite simply this was set in a bar and it was where the likes of Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson really started off. It was quite dry humor at times, you cringed at others, but overall it was very funny indeed and that is what you should remember it for even though they stopped making it a number of years ago.

5.Friends

This went on for years and got some seriously high viewing figures and indeed its repeats are still getting huge figures even today. The concept was self-explanatory, but the mix of characters is what really made it a success and it is one of the best comedy shows of all time.

6.Fawlty Towers

The sad thing about this show is that it only has 12 episodes because it is absolutely brilliant. It is all about a hotel owner and what goes on there and if that sounds boring, then watch it because you will find out that it is anything but boring and instead is hilarious.

7.Saturday Night Live

If you live in the US and you have never watched this show, then where have you been all of your life? It may have been going for some time, but it is still an excellent show and you are going to laugh and smile all of the way through it and lets face it that is why you are watching it in the first place.

8.The Office (UK)

This is seriously funny because you cannot help but laugh and cringe at the lead character. It is even funnier because most of us will know somebody that is exactly like this in our lives, or perhaps there is a bit of David Brent in all of us?

9.Monty Python's Flying Circus

When it comes to off the wall comedy sketches, then nobody can ever hope to beat Monty Python. These guys from the UK really did make a huge impact in the 70s and this series is still absolutely hilarious and if you have never seen it, then the best piece of advice that anybody can give is to go and check it out.

10.South Park

This is crude, rude, but very funny and that has to be the most important part in all of this. You may not like some of the humor in it, but there is no doubt that at some point you will find yourself laughing unless you are not even human that is.

11.Seinfeld

It is perhaps fair to say that this comedy ended up being a lot more popular than they thought and it is still standing up to the test of time even if you watch the earlier episodes. There are always a number of laugh out loud moments in each episode and it is deserving of being in this list.

12.The Simpsons

You should not be shocked to discover that this is the show that is ranked as being the funniest of all time because this yellow family has managed to entertain us for years and it never seems as if it is getting old. They are so funny in so many ways that you just hope that it never ends.
