This bookshelf is basically clipped together by those thicker joins you see in the photograph. It does mean that it can be rearranged as you see fit, so you can have less compartments if you wish to do so, or try to make them different sizes. As you can see it can hold a reasonable number of books and this can make all the difference for some people.
