1.Hindustani

As the primary language of India, Hindustani has many dialects with the most common being the one most people have heard of, Hindi. English is a prominent language in India as well, so most Pakistanis speak both languages. India's population is growing and is said to be sneaking up on China, and may soon pass it.




2.Korean

As the official language spoken in North and South Korea, it is spoken abyt about 78 million people in the world. Korean is written with characters called hanja, adapted from Chinese characters. The language is related to Japanese and there is said to be an overlap in both language's vocabulary.



3.Japanese

Japanese is spoken by roughly 125 million people, most of who live in the country of Japan. The East Asian language is related to Korean, but has no renealogical relation to Chinese. The language is said to have been brought to Japan from Pacific Island settlers in the mid second century B.C.





4.Mandarin

Mandarin is the number one most spoken language in the world. With over 1 billion people speaking it, it beats English two to one. Learning Mandarin can be tough with the four different tones used for the same word, that makes it mean four different things. For your first lesson, ni hao means hello.



5.Russian

Russian is one of the most used languages in the world and is one of the six languages in the United Languages. Countries such as Kazakhstan, and Belarus, as well as the United States. The Russian population has grown in the United States in the past ten years, and more and more Americans are learning Russian.





6.Portuguese

Portuguese is an established language througout the world and is spoken as the national language in Brazil. It is also spoken in Venezuela, Mozambique, Angola, and Macau. Winning it's independence from Spain, Portugal was able to flourish and build its own land, with Prince Hengry the Navigator at the forefront.



7.Italian

Italian is considered one of the languages of love. As the native language of about 59 million people in Europe, it is a second language to about 14 millon people. The language is spoken in Switzerland, where it is one of their four official languages. Descended from Latin, Italian vocabulary remains the closest to Latin.

8.Arabic

One of the oldest languages is Arabic, and it is also one of the most spoken in the world. The Middle East, including Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, and Saudia Arabia, all speak Arabic. In 1974, Arabic became the sixth official language of the United Nations. It is also the language of the Koran.



9.French

French is spoken in many countries around the world, including the United States, as well as Canada, Belgium and Hait. Of course, it is spoken in France and is often referred to as the language of love. Phrases like "bonjour" and "au revoir" have become well known in the United States for hello and goodbye.

10.Spanish

Spanish is one of the top most spoken languages in the world, spoken in North and South America as well as Spain and Cuba. There are many English words that are borrowed from Spanish such as enchilada, tornado, patio and bonanza. With the influx of Mexican people immigrating to the United States, more and more Americans are learning Spanish.



11.English

English is the official language spoken in most countries in the world. Most people think it is the most popular language in the world, and that it is spoken by the most people, but they are wrong. English is the second most spoken languge, second to Mandarin.
