2.Avoid Alcohol

Avoid alcohol if you want to be alert. Wine is he biggest culprit of causing drowsiness, especially if you drink it at lunch. A late night glass is fine if you are planning to go to bed, but any other time it can increase drowsiness, especially if you are tired already.

4.Eat Less

Eat less at each meal and have more small meals throughout the day. Forget about that huge lunch consisting of spaghetti and meatballs or a steak and potatoes. You'll be crashing at your desk by 3pm. Instead have a healthy breakfast, a mid-morning snack, a light lunch, an afternoon snack and a light supper. You can even have a small dessert.

5.Exercise

Stay away from sugars, and that doesn't mean just adding sugar to your coffee or tea. Sugar can be hidden in foods, but also some foods can cause a sugar like increase in blood sugar levels. White bread is one of the biggest culprits that causes a spike in blood sugar and then a huge crash later.

7.Have Some Coffee

Coffee or tea are a great pick me up during the day to give you that energy boost you need to finish your day. Don't overdo it, a cup will be enough. Don't worry about it ruining your sleep if you drink it before 5pm. The caffeine will be just enough of a stimulant to help you to function.
