The Catacombs of Paris, in Paris, France, are often referred to as the Empire Of death, and rightfully so. Six million dead bodies were carted to this location over the course of eighteen months, to be arranged in huge piles of bones. The skulls are laid out in configurations such as crosses or wall ornaments throughout the two mile underground gallery.
