1.United Kingdom

The United Kingdom's internet speed isn't the greatest in the world, but it's pretty fast. The country currently holds the No. 12 spot for having a high internet speed. The average peak speed for the U.K. has reached 36.3 megabits per second, which is just 0.3 megabits per second behind the United States.




2.USA

In just six months, the United States went from having the 14th highest internet speed in the world, to taking over the No. 11 spot. The superpower missed the top 10 by just one spot, which is still attainable at this point. The USA currently has an average top speed of 36.6 megabits per second, which is almost double the global average.



3.Belgium

Belgium's internet speed isn't as fast as it once was, but it's still managed to slip into the 10th spot in average peak speed. In our earlier report, Belgium ranked 6th in average peak speed. Belgium has an average high speed of 38 megabits per second. Belgium once has the sixth highest internet speed in the world.





4.Netherlands

You won't have to worry about missing important e-mails while vacationing in The Netherlands. The country's super-fast internet speed places the Netherlands ninth in the world. The Netherlands has an average top broadband speed of 38.2 megabits per second. The Netherlands increased its top internet speed by 15 percent, when compared with the previous year.



5.Bulgaria

With low taxes and a fast internet connection, Bulgaria is a dream come true. Bulgaria reportedly has the eighth highest internet connection in the world. The country has an average high Internet speed of 38.2 megabits per second. With a normal high speed of 38.2 MBps, Bulgaria's internet is more than twice the global average.





6.Switzerland

Switzerland is a fast-paced environment and is known to be a major playing field for the finance industry. Due to its business dealings, a rather high internet speed is necessary.The country has an average top Internet speed of 40.3 megabits per second, which doubles the global average of 18.4 Mbps. Switzerland, has the seventh highest internet speed in the world.



7.Singapore

Singapore ranks sixth in the world in regards to having the highest internet speed. When the co-founder of Facebook (Eduardo Saverin) decides to move to Singapore; you know it has a speedy internet connection. Singapore has an average top speed of 41.1 megabits per second. The country's current top internet speed is 43 percent faster than a year ago.

Latvia is a small country, but its internet packs a big punch. It's because of its size why Latvia's internet speed is the fifth highest in the world. The country has consistently ranked in the top 10 countries with the highest internet speed. In all actuality, Latvia's average peak broadband speed is recorded as 44.2 megabits per second.

Romania's internet speed has gone up and down over the years. The country is currently ranked No. 3 in the world for having the highest internet speed in the world. Romania reportedly has an average peak speed of 47.9 megabits per second. To put that into perspective, that's 160 percent faster than the global average.



11.Japan

Japan holds the title for having the second highest internet speed in the world. The country is responsible for bringing the world Nintendo and Sony. Thanks to the high-speed fiber optics found throughout the country, Japan citizens are able to cruise the net in a dash. Japan's average peak broadband speed can reach 50 megabits per second, which is more than 170 percent quicker than the worldwide average.

12.Hong Kong

Hong Kong has the fastest internet speed in the world today. The country continues its reign at the top, with its highest speed recorded as 63.6 megabits per second, which is more than three times the global average of 18.4 megabits per second. Hong Kong's internet speed average is 29 percent faster than a year ago.
