1.Be Around Others Who Speak The Language

The more you can immerse yourself in the company of others that speak the language that you are trying to learn, the quicker you will learn it. Join communities that speak that language, make friends with transplants of that language, and travel to places where the people speak the language.

2.Have Confidence

Have confidence. The more you shy away from speaking, the harder it will be for you to learn. Sometimes people can feel insecure or shy about speaking in a foreign tongue, but practice makes perfect. You may mess up at first, but keep going, chances are no one noticed, and no one really cares.

3.Use Translator Software

Translator software is always great to have on hand. In the past tourists used to carry a translation book, now with smart phones, we have apps at our fingertips that can help us with a word with the click of a finger. Download one and learn to use it for whenever you need it.

4.Practice Speaking To Others

Practice your language with others of the same language your are trying to learn. Watch how they speak, the tonality, the inflection and pronunciation. Try to mimic them as best you can. The more you speak the language in conversation, the quicker you will learn to be able to converse in that language.

5.Watch Sesame Street In That Language

When you were a child you increased your learning of your native language by watching Sesame Street. Well, when you are learning a new language, think of yourself as a child in that language. You need to start at the beginning, and there's no better place to start than Sesame Street.

6.Listen To Songs With Lyrics

The same goes for songs. Listen to songs in the language that you want to learn, and read lyrics in your native language. Soon the words will begin to make sense, and you will learn the song just like you would any song in your native language. It's a quick way to pick up phrases.

7.Watch Movies With Subtitles

Watching movies with subtitles is one of the best ways to help you learn a new language. Choose a movie that you know well, and watch it in the foreign language that you are trying to learn. Make sure there are subtitles in your native language and watch how soon you will recognize certain words or phrases.

8.Practice Saying The Words Aloud

Saying words from a foreign language over and over again out loud will make you remember them better. Saying them out loud is key. The more you say them the more you hear them and the better you learn them. Say the words that you pick that day, and repeat them to yourself out loud.

9.Repeat 1 Word And 1 Sentence Throughout The Day

Repeat and use one word and one sentence throughout the day. This means whenever you would use your native language for the word or sentence, instead use the language of which you are learning. It doesn't matter who you are speaking to, just do it over and over again, and soon your brain will recognize it.

10.Learn 3 Most Commonly Used Sentences Per Day

Learn three common sentences per day. Sentences like asking where the bathroom is, saying thank you, telling someone your name, asking about the weather, or asking if you can have a glass of water. Each day, add to the list until you know enough sentences where you can say what it is that you want or need.

11.Learn 10 to 20 New Words Per Day

Every day, learn at least ten, and up to twenty, new words per day. Learn them so that you know what they mean, how to say them, and how to properly pronounce them. Embed them in your memory so that you instantly recognize them and can recall them when needed.
