Diamond is the hardest naturally occurring substance on Earth. They are so hard that only another diamond can cut them. Diamonds are nothing but a form of carbon. They are precious, and they are often used in expensive jewelry. Because of their hardness, diamonds are also used in many high-performance industrial cutters and drills. Check these fifteen most expensive diamonds in the world.
1.118 carat diamond
This white diamond has 118 carats and an estimated value of anything up to $35 million. As you can see in the photograph it really is impressive both in size, shape, color, and cut and you can only imagine the size of piece of jewelry it would require in order to actually wear it. The problem with this is that you cannot really do it and it sits in a safe, but at least your investment looks nice.
2.Pink Star
This diamond was up for sale in 2013 and it has an estimated value of US $83.2 million. It has 59.60 carats and it has been cut into an oval shape as can be seen here. It really is something spectacular and somebody out there will be willing to spend that kind of money in order to own something that is very rare indeed.
3.Allnatt
This yellow color diamond was found in South Africa and it currently has a price tag of approximately $3 million. It has just over 101 carats and it also has what is known as a cushion cut resulting in it looking like this. The diamond is loved due to not containing any flaws with only the color letting it down slightly.
4.Moussaieff
This diamond is indeed red in color, but it also comes with a price tag that is quoted as being anywhere between $7 million and $20 million. It may only be 5.11 carats, but it is classed as being the biggest diamond of this color ever to have been classified by the GIA and this alone is enough to push the price up resulting in it costing those millions. You have to admit that it does look rather cool.
5.Heart of Eternity
The heart of eternity diamond is clearly very well named and it has been classified as being of the color 'Fancy Vivid Blue' and is priced at $16 million. This diamond comes from a mine in South Africa and it has 27.64 carats, but the cut and the way it reflects and catches the light really does help to add to the price resulting in it costing you millions to own it.
6.Wittelsbach
This blue diamond is valued at over $16 million and it is a rather impressive example to look at. This diamond is 40mm in diameter and it has 35 carats, but it is the cut, the flawless nature of it, and the color that really does mark this out as being something rather special. It is part of the Austrian crown jewels, so if royalty wanted it, then you know it has to be something good.
7.Steinmetz Pink
If you thought that diamonds were all clear then think again as this diamond really does have a pink color to it and it does somehow just add something to it. This diamond is priced at $25 million and it is perhaps not a surprise to find out that it is the biggest pink diamond ever to have been discovered with it containing 59.60 carats.

8.Centenary
This rather gorgeous diamond is known as the de Beers centenary diamond, so clearly it was produced for that particular milestone. In actual fact it is the third largest diamond that they have produced out of their mines and it has a price tag of approximately $100 million and it has 273 carats. This diamond really is flawless and it has the highest rating possible for this particular type of gem.
9.Hope
This is a gorgeous diamond that has a price tag of $350 million. It does appear to be blue in color, but this is due to something called boron inside it, but when it is viewed under ultraviolet light the surprising thing is that it then turns a red color. It also has 45.52 carats and it would make one spectacular necklace to wear.

10.Cullinan
This is an amazing diamond as it has 3,106.75 carats and it has a price tag in the region of $400 million. Up until 1985 it was the biggest diamond in the world and indeed it was also the largest rough gem ever discovered when it was pulled out of a mine in Africa. This is one spectacular diamond to look at.
11.Sancy
This pale yellow diamond is certainly different from the other diamonds that are classed as being among the most expensive in the world. It actually forms part of the collection of the French crown jewels and it is currently housed at The Louvre. The value is like the Kohinoor diamond in that it is seen as being priceless.
12.Kohinoor
This diamond takes pride of place in the British crown originally brought from India during British colonization there, but when it comes to the price some argues that it is priceless and in any case any figure being thrown around is merely guesswork by experts. The figure that is generally quoted is in the region of $12 billion, but of course it will never come on the market and who would be willing to spend that kind of money on a diamond anyway?
13.Golden Jubilee Diamond
Golden Jubilee Diamond is the largest cut diamond in the world. The diamond was discovered in the Premier Mine, the same place where other expensive diamonds like Cullinan, Taylor-Burton, and Centenary were found. The 545.67-carat diamond has an estimated valuation of $12 million.
14.Millennium Star
Millennium Star is a diamond owned by De Beers. At 203.04 carats, it is the world's second largest colorless diamond. De Beers spent three years to make a flawless pear-shaped diamond out of the raw diamond they found in 1990. The estimated value of the diamond is $144 million.
15.Jacob Diamond
Jacob Diamond is the fifth largest diamond in the world, currently owned by India. The precious gem was discovered in India, in 1884. The Nizam (King) of Hyderabad was the first owner of the Diamond. He used the diamond as a paperweight! After his empire Hyderabad was annexed to the Indian Union in 1948, Indian Government gained ownership on many precious jewels of Nizam including the Jacob Diamond. The estimated price of the diamond is $140 million.
