1.Michael Sessions

Michael was the Mayor of Hillsdale, Mich aged 18 and surely at that point you should have other things on your mind rather than being mayor? The guy cannot even legally buy any alcohol, but he is running a small town?

2.Armistead Thomson Mason

Armistead was the US senator for Virginia 1816 aged 28. Now you have to be at least 30 to be in the senate, so it is impossible for his record to be broken. Imagine having all of that power at such an early age in life.

3.Alex Morse

Alex became the Mayor of Holyoke, Mass aged 23 and it does not matter that the town is not the biggest as it is still some achievement to be the mayor at that age. He managed to beat somebody more than double his age, so imagine how bad that guy must have felt.

4.James Dickson

James Dickson was an MP in England in 1880 aged 21 years and 67 days. You have to remember that this was at a time when voting was gradually being changed to include a few more men, so to then have them voting for somebody as young as this must have blown their minds.

5.Proscovia Alengot Oromait

Proscovia is an MP in Uganda aged 19. She is the youngest politician ever in Africa never mind Uganda and it is undoubtedly one amazing achievement on her part. Uganda is not exactly seen as being a forward thinking country, so to have somebody that is female and so young in the political environment is astonishing.

6.Anton Abele

Anton Abele is youngest politician ever in the world aged 18 and that is certainly some record to hold. He certainly made a bit of an impact in Sweden after being elected and was seen as being a breath of fresh air in the rather stuff world of politics.

7.Mike Moore

Mike Moore is a New Zealand politician who was elected aged 23. This makes him the youngest politician to have ever held any position in the country by some considerable distance.

8.Angela Zachepa

Angela became a politician in Malawi aged 21 and you can imagine how difficult that must have been and how big an achievement it actually is due to the way politics runs in Africa. How much of an impact she made is up for debate, but it is still a pretty cool statistic.

9.William J Murphy

William J Murphy was aged 21 years and 29 days old when he became a politician in Ireland. He beat the previous record by around 200 days, but it is still very impressive to get into a job such as this at such an early age.

10.Pierre - Luc Dusseault

A Canadian politician who was elected aged 19 years in 2011 and indeed is the youngest politician in Canada ever. He is regarded as having quite a wise head on his shoulders and is expected to stay in the job potentially for decades.

11.Bernadette Devlin

Became an MP in England at the age of 21 in 1969 and this was made even more impressive by the fact that she is of course female. This was a time where women and politics really did not mix that well, so she faced one hell of a battle to forge a career.

12.Wyatt Roy

This guy was born in 1990 and is an Australian politician. It is quite impressive to think that he was an MP at 21 and indeed he is still working as one and great things are expected of him.
