1.Keep the belief it can still work

You must keep the belief that everything can indeed still work out because most people can actually overcome their differences just most do not realize this. If you lose faith in yourself and your relationship it does mean there is a greater chance of you being divorced.

2.Avoid setting a timeframe

This period is full of pressure, so do yourselves a favor and avoid setting a timeframe to sort this all out. Instead, accept that it just has to take its own time for things to be resolved.

3.Deal with any of your own issues

It may very well be the case that you have a number of personal issues that are contributing to your problems. It does of course then make sense to tackle them before trying to stop that divorce.

4.Write down positives and negatives

You may feel as if everything is problematic, but if you write down the positives and negatives you may be surprised at the results. Write down the good and bad things of the relationship before ultimately deciding what to do.

5.Compare to others who have been in the same position.

You have to remember that you are not alone and there are others out there that have been in the exact same boat. Look at how others survived and you may get some inspiration from it.

6.Where would you want it to go?

If both of you are agreed that a divorce is the only option then there is no need to look at the future. Instead, sit down and talk about where you both want things to go and at least see if you are on the same page.

7.Look at what you have achieved

Believe it or not you may have achieved a lot in your relationship, but the chances are you have managed to forget about it all. Take time out to remind yourself of those achievements and you may find that divorce is not actually an option.

8.Close yourselves away to sort out problems

It will be difficult to change things if you are being constantly swamped with outside interference. Of course this means that you need to close out the world until you get to the real issues at the heart of it all.

9.Take one problem at a time

Do not see your relationship issues as being big and out of control, but instead try to deal with just one issue at a time. By doing this, you will find it easier to deal with them individually.

10.Talking to one another

Talking is extremely important because without it you will have no chance of resolving the issues. Make sure that both sides know that it is a discussion and not an argument or apportioning blame to one another.

11.Trial separation

It may do you both the world of good to have a short time apart, but do realize that it does not mean that it is over. Instead, look at it as a chance to just get some breathing space in order to work through a few things in your mind.

12.Counseling

Quite often talking to a neutral party can actually help you to resolve your differences. It allows both sides to talk about what is bothering them and to then look at the potential solutions for those different issues, so do give counseling some serious consideration.
