1.Mad Max 2 : The Road Warrior
Mel Gibson as Mad Max in the first Mad Max movie was edge of your seat excitement, but in Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, he amped it up taking it over the top. With a sawed off shotgun, Gibson is seen in some of the best chase sequences in film, especially in the last fifteen minutes of the film, when he drives the Mack truck out of the wasteland.
2.Terminator 2: Judgement Day
We all know that any movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger in it is going to be action packed, and we know it's going to be good. Terminator 2: Judgement Day doesn't disappoint, even though it's a sequel. With more action than the first installment, T2 made a name for itself for the insane action sequences.
3.The Matrix
In 1999, we learned what it could be like in the future if we all lived in a virtual world controlled by computers, or worse yet, a power that controlled us through the computers. Neo, played by Keanu Reeves, is drawn into this world in the Matrix, coming head to head with Agent Smith in one of the greatest action sequences you've seen.
4.die Hard
No one is more bad ass than a pissed of Bruce Willis. John McClane, played by Willis, must fight off terrorists that have taken over the Nakatomi Plaza. This film put Willis on the map as a force to be reckoned with when it came to action sequences. The film was so successful it spawned many sequels.
5.Lethal Weapon
In 1987 we met two of the most unlikely partners on the police force. Mel Gibson stars at Martin Riggs, a suicidal, insane cop who is partners with veteran detective, Roger Murtaugh played by Danny Glover. Riggs is a loose canon and his way of doing this makes for car chases, stand offs and gun fights, in a way that Glover's cop has never seen.
6.Bourne Ultimatum
Sequels are hardly ever as good as the first movie, but the Bourne Ultimatum is the exception to the rule. With breathtaking action scenes including car and foot chases, audiences are treated to one of the most brutal battles between Matt Damon and the CIA agent, Desh. Directed by Paul Greengrass, this film is action at its max.
7.Speed
In 1994, we were taken on a hell ride in a bus with Sandra Bullock at the wheel and Keanu Reeves trying to decipher a bomb that is planted on the bus. The bus has to maintain a certain speed or the bomb will go off, killing everyone inside. Audiences hearts raced as time almost runs out, the bus explodes and they end up on a train headed for a wall.

8.First Blood
Everyone came to know Sylvester Stallone as the lovable fighter, Rocky Balboa, so when he hit the screen in 1982 as John Rambo in the hit film, First Blood, audiences were riveted. Playing a slightly disturbed Vietnam vet, he uses his combat skills to out run a sheriff who is hell bent on arresting him for no good reason.
9.Kill Bill Vol.1
Not often do we see such intense action between two woman, but in Kill Bill Vol. 1 Uma Thurman rocks it out. A bride, played by Thurman, awakens five years after an assassination attempt at her wedding, bent on revenge. Quentin Tarantino creates a blood bath that is so packed with action, viewers can feel it as they watch.

10.Face Off
John Travolta and Nicholas Cage so perfectly captured each other's nuances that it was easy to believe that Cage was in Travolta's body and vice versa. Not only was this an action packed movie, but the message was a lot deeper. The emotion felt by Travolta's character who is trapped in his own game is intense and riveting.
11.Point Break
Patrick Swayze went from dancing to surfing in the hit 1991 film, Point Break. Starring opposite Keanu Reeves who is an FBI agent trying to crack a group of bank robbers dressed in ex-president masks to which Swayze is the leader. Surfing, skydiving, gunfights and chases make this an edge of your seat action movie that tops the list.

12.Top Gun
In 1986, Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer zoomed on screen as fighter jet pilots in the hit movie, Top Gun. Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, nailed it with action packed training and combat sequences. And as with any great movie, the romance between Cruise's character Maverick and his female instructor made for one of the best on-screen kisses of all time.
