Another Case Of US English Vs. British English

We all use 'quite' to describe something that's really good, big etc. When we say 'that was quite a long story', we actually mean it is very long. However, when British people use 'quite' in a sentence, they only mean 'okay', 'sort of', 'fairly' etc.
British people are quite good at English!!! Aren't they?
