The Myth: Irregardless is not a word.
The Truth: Irregardless is a word, but is considered nonstandard. English teachers insist it's incorrect to use, teaching students to use regardless or irrespective, but the word exists and is in the dictionary. So ... irregardless of what some people think, it's a word.
