Jack Whittaker was already a rich man when he won the $314 million Powerball multi-state lottery. He chose one-time payout over an annuity, to which he got paid about $113 million in single lump sum payment. The man lost more than $700,000 in cash to thieves as he used to carry cash in suitcases. His granddaughter and her boyfriend were dead from drug overdose. His daughter died in 2009 for unknown reasons. His business was in troubles.
