Thursday, Oct 31, 2013, 4:54 pm

Jupiter's Great Red Spot is a large anti-cyclonic storm similar to a hurricane on Earth. It was first detected by a telescope and noted by Giovanni Cassini, who declared it in 1665. One-hundred years ago the Red Spot was 25,000 miles across. Even though it is still large, the spot has since shrunk to half the size.
