This festival is celebrated on the final day of traditional Chinese New Year celebrations, which fall sometime between the months of February and March. The lantern festival is celebrated in many other Asian countries as well. In countries like Malaysia and Thailand, this festival is the equivalent of Valentine's Day. Thousands of young couple flock streets to release lanterns in air, hoping to find love and luck.
