Independence Day (1996)

Independence Day was the highest grossing film of 1996. Though he had made movies prior, this is the film that made critics and fans view Will Smithas a box office king. Smith's work on the film got him an MTV Movie Award for 'Best Kiss, 'a Blockbuster Entertainment Award for 'Favorite Actor,' and a Universe Reader's Choice Award for 'Best Actor.' A sequel for the film is currently in the works, but Will Smith will not be reprising his role because he is now deemed too expensive.
