Influenza is the flu and many people don't take it as seriously as they should. Taking the lives of a half a million people each year, the flu works by attaching itself to cells in the lung and air passageways, killing the cells. These dead cells cause the symptoms of a sore throat, runny nose, and all the fun stuff. But too many dead cells in the lungs kills.
