Rock Stars Who Were Drug Addicts

1.Anthony Kiedis

The lead singer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers has admitted in the past that he was indeed a drug addict. However, with the support of his family and those people helping him to stop, he has been clean for some time and that alone must be tough with the way that people here tend to be used to.

2.Eric Clapton

Eric is quite open about the problems he had with drugs as it got to the point where he really did struggle to do anything yet his songs were still produced in huge quantities and hidden away. However, he certainly turned his life around and is still seen as one of the best guitar players of all time.

3.Jimi Hendrix

It is often claimed that if Jimi had not been on drugs that most of his iconic stuff would have never been performed or created in any way, shape, or form. The music world really was in mourning when he died prematurely, but he still influences the world today.

4.Keith Richards

It is probably easier to say the drugs that good old Keith has not been addicted to. This guy has seriously abused his body since the 60s, but he still seems to have good health considering the way he has mistreated himself.

5.Liza Minnelli

Liza Minnelli has long had a tenacious relationship with booze and prescription drugs. A fantastically talented singer and actress, Liza is the daughter of Judy Garland, who passed away from an accidental barbiturate overdose.

6.Janis Joplin

One of the most prolific and well known female rock stars in America, Janis Joplin eventually died from her drug addictions at only age 27.

7.Courtney Love

Former wife and widow of Kurt Cobain, Courtney has been known to battle the same demons her deceased husband did. She has an off and on relationships with drugs and at times becomes very ill.

8.Ozzy Osbourne

British personality and super rock star, Ozzy Osbourne has long battled booze and drug addictions. He does seem to clear his act up for a time, then fall off the wagon.

9.Amy Winehouse

Extremely talented and popular singer Amy Winehouse battled drug addiction most of her short career. It was said that she swapped drugs for alcohol in a bid to stop the cocaine and heroin she so enjoyed but this backfired on her causing her death. She died from alcohol poisoning.

10.Whitney Houston

A beautiful model, great actress, fantastic singer and hopeless drug addict. It is said that Whitney was one of the most awarded women in American show business. She died from cocaine use, which resulted in heart-failure.

11.Jim Morrison

Lead singer with the popular group 'The Doors' and poet, Jim Morrison was found dead in France from a heroin overdose. Who knows what great music we then lost out on due to his death.

12.Kurt Cobain

It seemed like Kurt Cobain had everything going for him, a great looking guy with a load of talent. He was lead singer for the band Nirvana who enjoyed international fame. His drug addictions eventually lead to him committing suicide.
