Flying Fish

Oh yes, flying fishes exist! What you see in the picture is definitely not fake. You can spot them in many water bodies in Asian countries. Also known as gliding fishes, these amazing creatures can fly for up to 45 seconds, roughly covering a distance 400 meters. They fly at an average speed of 40 Mph. Their unique flying ability is a part of their natural defense mechanism. These fishes fly only when predators attack them. In Japan, gliding fishes are among the popular edible fishes. People from other Asian countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and India, etc. eat them too.
