Married to men four times, having five children, but didn't come out as a lesbian until 2009, nine years after divorcing her last husband, David Birney.

Greta Garbo was a legend in her time and it appears she had a woman named Mercedes de Acosta to thank. The socialite, who was born into a prominent family in New York, took Garbo under her wing and taught her how to act the part of a Hollywood actress. The couple remained together for thirty years, unbeknownst to Hollywood that they were indeed in love.
