3.Herr's Potato Chips

Founded by James S. Herr in 1946, the Herr's Potato Chip company is based in Nottingham, Pennsylvania. The, then, twenty one year old was one of the youngest entrepreneurs of his time, introducing their flavored potato chips in 1958. Other products include pretzels, popcorn, tortilla chips, cheese curls and onion rings.





4.Popchips

Popchips is a new fangled type of potato chip mixed with a popcorn texture. Founded by Keith Belling and Pat Turin, the company was established in 2007 and was rated as America's Top 20 Promising Companies by Forbes, in 2011. Using high temperatures and pressure, these unique chips are made, with flavors that include original, sour cream & onion, parmesan & garlic, and more.



5.Golden Flake Potato Chips

Golden Flake not only makes great tasting potato chips, they also make fried pork skins, tortilla chips, corn chips, cheese curls and more. Mose Lischkoff and Frank Mosher, from Birmingham, Alabama, founded Golden Flack Snack Foods in 1923, and since then their flavors have grown to include dill pickle, barbecue, salt & pepper, and more.





6.Wise Potato Chips

Wise Potato Chips have been around since before World War II. Founded by Earl Wise Sr., these chips became synonymous with the owl mascot used in most of their commercials in the early days. Manufactured by Wise Food, Inc., the brand was recently sold to Arca Continental, a Mexican company, in 2012.



7.Ruffles Potato Chips

Manufactured by Frito Lay, Ruffles Potato Chips got its name from the way the potatoes are cut. Frito Lay acquired the rights to Ruffles in 1958, creating flavors such as buffalo wing, hone mustard, cheddar & sour cream, paprika, sour cream & onion, loaded chili and cheese, and au gratin, to name some of the most popular.

8.Utz Potato Chips

Utz is the largest snack brand in the country and was founded by William and Sali Utz in Hanover, Pennsylvania in 1921. Created in their home, these chips skyrocketed to the top of Utz Quality foods, which includes tortilla chips, popcorn, pretzels, sunflower chips and pork rinds. They also make salsa, dips and crackers.



9.Pringles

Pringles was created, and marketed, as the first chip that wasn't broken and crumbled at the bottom of a greasy bag. Chemist Fredric Baur and Proctor & Gample researcher Alexander Liepa, worked separately to create these chips. Proctor & Gamble sold the brand to the Kellog Company in early 2012. Along with traditional flavors, they are known for their limited edition flavors such as seaweed, chili cheese dog, and ketchup.

10.Lays

Lays is one of the most popular brand of potato chip on the market. Manufactured by the Frito-Lay Company, founded by Herman Lay, the company was founded in 1932 in Dorset, Ohio in 1932. It wasn't until 1961, when Mr. Lay merged with Elmer Doolin, the founder of Frito, in 1961. The new company, Frito Lay went on to become one of the largest snack food manufacturers in the country.



11.Kettle Brand Potato Chips

Kettle Brand Potato Chips are manufactured by Kettle Foods, founded in 1978 by Cameron Healy. The company's first potato chip wasn't produced until four years late m in 1982, using all natural ingredients. A favorite for it's crunchy texture and amazing flavors, Kettle Brand includes New York Cheddar, Sea Salt, Sour Cream, Honey Barbecue and Jalepeno, to name a few.

When Lynn and Steve Bernard decided to create snacks with little processing, Cape Cod Potato Chips were created. Manufactured by Snyder Lance, the 2nd biggest manufacturer of snacks in the United States, these chips offer unbelievable crunch packed with flavor. With flavors such as traditional, in addition to Jalepeno and Horseradish, Old Bay, Hot Sauce, Salt & Pepper, as well as favorites such as barbedue and sour cream & onion, Cape Cod Chips are a favorite.
