Winning an Academy Award is a dream for every actor. Similarly, winning a Grammy Award is a dream for every singer and musician. Celebrities love awards! They value them a lot. They try their best to win one every year. In most cases, awards go to the deserved person. However, in some cases, celebs get the awards anyway although they don't really deserve winning them. Check these fifteen such instances where celebs got big awards with a bad performance.
1.Milli Vanilli

Plenty of pop music performers have Grammys despite singing badly. But these two guys pulled off the almost impossible feat of winning a Grammy without singing a note. After being awarded Best New Artist in 1990, it was soon revealed that the two men did not actually sing on their records. The Grammys were so embarrassed that they demanded the duo return their awards.

2.Shelby Lynne

If the name Shelby Lynne does not exactly ring a bell for you, you're not alone. It wouldn't even surprise me to learn that Lynne herself has forgotten that she won a Grammy for best new artist of 2001. Apparently that year was a slim year for new artists.

3.The Starland Vocal Band

This is a band that won a Grammy for Best New Artist in 1977. They may have been new, and I suppose they could be considered artists, but it's hard to imagine they could have been the best. Their first hit song was Afternoon Delight. They're still waiting for their second.

4.Chicago

When Chicago took the Oscar for 2002's Best Picture, many celebrated simply because it seemed to signal the return of the musical. But it really signaled the return of the mediocre musical. There were other films that year that deserved the Oscar, but they lost because they featured no singing and dancing.

5.Elizabeth Taylor

There's no denying the power of this legendary actress's extraordinary talent. But when she won a Best Actress Oscar for the film Butterfield Eight, the victory had more to do with the power of sympathy. At the time of the Awards she was recovering from a near fatal bout with pneumonia.

6.Sandra Bullock

Sandra Bullock is a very good actress, and no one really has a doubt on her acting skills. She won an Oscar in 2010 (Best Performance by a Lead Actress) for her performance in 'The Blind Side' (2009) film. Her performance in the movie was good, but it was no way near a standard Oscar performance.

7.Michael Bolton

The man seen in this picture is Michael Bolton. He has a voice that sounds like a man choking on sandpaper. But apparently, there are those who find that particular sound appealing as he has sold many records and won many Grammys. He's appeared in movies, but thankfully never won an Oscar.

8.Crash

A 2004 film called crashed collided violently with movie fans when it won an Oscar for Best Picture. Public opinion of the film is sharply divided. There are those who feel it didn't deserve the Oscar because the critically acclaimed Brokeback Mountain was better. And there are those who feel it didn't deserve the Oscar because it was awful.

9.Nelly

Nelly is the kind of lightweight rapper who seems impossible to take seriously as an artist. It would come as a shock to learn that he even takes himself seriously. But in 2004, the Grammys strangely took a song called Shake Ya Tailfeather seriously enough to award it for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group.

10.Al Pacino

In 1992, the Academy Awards were faced with the awkward prospect of having Al Pacino lose yet another Oscar. He'd been nominated several times and lost. This time they corrected the problem by giving him a Best Actor Oscar for a very average performance in the film Scent of a Woman.

11.All-4-One

All-4-One is another of those briefly popular singing groups of the 90s. It seems impossible that they could have won an award of any sort. But in 1995, they did indeed win a Grammy. No, it wasn't for having the silliest name ever for a group of grown men. It was for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. The song was called I swear. Apparently, profanity was very popular in the 90s.

12.Britney Spears

Britney Spears is a great entertainer -- at least for those who find her endless emotional meltdowns and public relation disasters entertaining. When it comes to singing and dancing... well, that part of her career is less entertaining. But she nonetheless won a Grammy in the year 2005 for her song Toxic.

13.Celine Dion

There are people who like Celine Dion and there are those of us who prefer music. Apparently, the committee behind the Grammys don't care much for music as they awarded her a Grammy for the song Beauty and the Beast in 1993. She's actually won several other awards and perhaps even deserved a few.

14.Baha Men

Remember Baha Men? Well, neither do I. But they had a hit song years ago called Who Let the Dogs Out? You probably loved this song in junior high and forgot about it by the time you turned fifteen. But somehow this amazingly forgettable song won a Grammy for Best Dance Recording, making Baha Men the most forgettable Grammy winners in history.

15.Judi Dench

Dame Judi Dench is a truly legendary actress. But there was nothing legendary about her performance in the film Shakespeare In Love for which she won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar. She appeared in the film for roughly eight minutes. That's simply not enough time to be legendary. Brando would have needed twelve just to get warmed up.
