1.Starches

Starches add fat to our bodies by spiking our blood sugar. Potatoes, rice, white bread, pasta and more, all elevate our blood sugar and cause our bodies to store fat. What's worse is that it is easy to eat more than a servicing of any of these, doubling and tripling the negative impact on our bodies.




2.Refined Grains

The refining process in most grains strips the grain of any nutritional value, leaving behind a high glycemic food. This cause your blood sugar to spike and your body to store fat. It's that simple. Stay away from white flour and instead choose whole grains and sprouted grains in your bread, or flour.



3.Fruit Juice

Check the label when purchasing fruit juice. Most will claim to be 100% fruit juice, but you will find added sugars and corn syrups. These spike blood sugar and add calories to your diet and fat to your waistline. Make your own juice at home and you will be much better off.





4.Potato Chips

Potato chips are an all time favorite, but they are packed with fat and calories, not to mention that potatoes are a high glycemic food. What that means is that the potato, alone, boosts blood sugar almost as much as plain sugar itself. Add the saturated fat that they fry it in, and you're going to gain weight.



5.Ground Red meat

Ground beef contains a lot of saturated fat per serving, especially when you eat it at a fast food chain. They do not use high quality meat, and you are getting the fattiest cuts possible, and even in better restaurants, they use the fattier meat because it is more juicy. If you do eat burgers, make them yourself and choose 85 to 90 percent lean.





6.Transfats

Transfats are one of the worst things you can eat. Opt for unsaturated fats instead. To avoid obesity, start reading labels and learn what you are eating. It may look innocent enough until you realize that most of what you are eating is transfats that clog arteries and add weight to your body.



7.Sweets

Sweets have no nutritional value and spike blood sugar levels causing weight gain. It's pretty simple. The more you eat the more weight you'll gain. Simple sugars are the fastest way to obesity of any food because it tastes so good that people overeat it, easily downing three or more servings in one sitting.

8.Fried Foods

Fried food is bad for your waistline, not to mention your heart. The cause of heart disease, clogged arteries, high blood pressure and belly fat, there are other great tasting alternative. Baking instead of frying, most anything, can still taste delicious, and crisp, if done the right way. Spray oils are great for spraying over the food when baking.



9.Butter

Butter is an easy way to pack on the pounds. One serving alone adds 14 grams of fat to your day, and you know that you can't just stick to one serving. Choose coconut oil or extra virgin olive oil as a substitute. Sure it has the same amount of fat, but it's good fat versus the bad fat in butter.

10.French Fries

French fries alone have been one of the top foods that cause obesity in our country for years. Cheap and readily available in fast food chains, people who eat fries regularly have gained 16 pounds over a four year period. That may not sound like a lot but it adds up.



11.Soda

Soda is filed with sugar that can spike your blood sugar levels and cause insulin to rush to the rescue. In the process, your body begins to store fat. It puts you at a higher risk for type 2 Diabetes, not to mention the weight gain. Studies show that drinking soda daily will pack on the weight.

12.Processed Meats

Cold cuts may seem harmless, especially if you choose turkey or chicken, but they are typically packed with sodium and nitrites. Ham, roast beef, mortadella and bologna are all high in calories, packing on the pounds when you eat them, and forget about hot dogs. Go for fresh cuts of meat to make a sandwich.
