Whey protein is a great source of protein to help build muscle and retain muscle. Found in milk, you can get it in powder form to make in smoothies. You can buy whey protein in any health food store and add to smoothies or sprinkle on yogurt or cereal for a protein boost any time.



3.Leafy Green Vegetables

Green leafy vegetables such as spinach, kale, collard greens, and mustard greens help fight free radicals in the body. Filled with antioxidants, they prevent cell damage, fighting against cancer and other diseases, while providing iron for better muscle recovery after workouts. Eat them as you would a salad, steam them for a side dish, crisp them in the oven for a snack, or add them to a smoothie.





4.Green Tea

Green tea is great for burning fat and also provides the antioxidants that you need to protect your body from free radical cell damage. Drinking two glasses of green per day is beneficial to your body in so many ways, but does boost your metabolism to burn fat more effectively.



5.Fatty Fish

Salmon, tuna and mackerel are the best fatty fish to eat to burn fat. These types of fish trigger fullness, making you eat less of other foods, and cutting down on calories. Fish is also high in protein and alpha omega-3 fatty acids. Fish is brain food and great for the body.

Lean meats are a great source of protein that builds and maintains muscle. Keep red meats down to one per week or twice a month, but turkey and chicken are great choices to get the protein you need throughout the day. It also strengthens your immune system and gives you overall strength.

Almonds contain protein and help to reduce cravings. The oleic oil found in the almonds cut hunger, and they are packed with Vitamin E, fiber and monosaturated fat, which is the good fat. They are low in calories and make for a great snack, just don't go overboard. A handful a day is great.
